1. About this policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on nexusindustrialsupply.co.uk, why they are there, and how to control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how Nexus Industrial Supply Limited handles personal data more generally.

The short version: this is a business website with no advertising on it. We use the small number of cookies our platform needs to run the site securely, plus a simple count of page views. There is no advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking of any kind.

2. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you return, the site can read that file again. Related technologies do much the same job by different means: local storage, tracking pixels (tiny images requested from a server) and scripts that read information from your browser.

UK law treats them the same way. The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) are concerned with the act of storing or accessing information on your device, whatever the technology used to do it.

Two distinctions matter when reading the tables below:

• First-party or third-party — whether the cookie is set by the site you are visiting or by another organisation whose content the site loads.
• Session or persistent — whether it is deleted when you close your browser, or stays for a set period.

3. The four categories of cookie

Cookies are usually grouped into four categories. The distinction that matters legally is between the strictly necessary ones, which a site may set without asking, and everything else, which normally requires your consent.

4. What this website uses

This site is hosted on WordPress.com, a platform operated by Automattic Inc. The table below describes what is actually set or loaded when you visit.

Cookie names and lifetimes at platform level are controlled by our host and can change without notice as the platform is updated. If you want an exact, current list for your own browser, your browser’s site settings or developer tools will show every cookie stored for this domain.

5. What this website does not use

It is as useful to know what is absent. As at the date of this policy, this website does not load any of the following:

• Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager or any other third-party analytics product
• Advertising, retargeting or conversion-tracking cookies
• Meta (Facebook), LinkedIn, X or any other social media tracking pixel
• Embedded video from YouTube, Vimeo or any other platform
• Embedded maps, including Google Maps
• Live chat, chatbots or session-recording tools
• A/B testing, heatmapping or personalisation tools
• Any file upload service — our forms do not accept uploads

If that changes, this policy will be updated before the technology goes live, and where consent is required we will ask for it first.

6. Consent and the UK rules

PECR requires your consent before information is stored on, or read from, your device — unless doing so is strictly necessary to provide the service you have asked for. The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 added two further exceptions with effect from 5 February 2026: one for collecting statistics to improve a service, and one for adapting how a site looks or works. Both depend on giving clear information and a simple, free way to object.

How that applies here

• Strictly necessary cookies are set without asking, as the law permits. Without them the site cannot be served securely or a form cannot be submitted.
• Visitor statistics are used for one purpose only: to see which pages are read so we can improve the site. The figures are not shared with advertisers, not used to build a profile of you, and not used to identify you. We rely on the statistical-purposes exception, and section 7 explains how to object.
• Preference and marketing cookies are not used, so there is nothing here for you to consent to.

If we ever introduce cookies that require consent, we will put a proper consent banner in place first — with a genuine option to refuse that is as easy as accepting, and no non-essential cookies set before you choose. This policy will be updated at the same time to describe how to change your choice.

7. Managing your preferences

Objecting to visitor statistics

You can object at any time, free of charge, by emailing sales@nexusindustrialsupply.co.uk with “Cookies” in the subject line. We will confirm what we have done.

You can also stop the measurement yourself, immediately and permanently, by blocking content from stats.wp.com and pixel.wp.com — through your browser’s tracking protection, its content-blocking settings, or a content-blocking extension. The website works normally without them.

Browser controls

Every major browser lets you see the cookies stored for a site, delete them, block them from particular sites, or block them all. The controls are usually found under Settings, then Privacy and security:

• Chrome — Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies, and Site settings for a single site
• Safari — Settings › Privacy, and Manage Website Data
• Edge — Settings › Cookies and site permissions
• Firefox — Settings › Privacy & Security › Enhanced Tracking Protection and Cookies and Site Data

Private or incognito browsing clears cookies at the end of the session. Blocking cookies entirely is your right, but blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of this site working — most obviously, you may not be able to submit an enquiry or quotation form.

8. Third-party services and their policies

The only third party involved in operating this website is Automattic Inc., which provides the WordPress.com platform, the Jetpack form and statistics features, the Akismet spam filter and the fonts the site uses. Automattic acts as our processor.

Automattic publishes its own privacy policy and cookie policy, which describe the cookies its platform may set.

Links from this website to manufacturer, distributor and standards organisation sites are outside our control. Those sites set their own cookies and publish their own policies.

9. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

There is no agreed UK standard requiring websites to respond to the browser “Do Not Track” setting, and this site does not respond to it. In practice it makes little difference here: no advertising or cross-site tracking technology is used, and the one statistical measure in place can be blocked directly as described in section 7.

10. Changes to this policy

We review this policy whenever the technology on the website changes, and at least once a year. The current version is always published here with the date at the top. If we add anything that requires consent, we will say so and ask before it is used.
