Marine Electrical
Components built for a vessel, not adapted for one.
Marine electrical components have to handle vibration, salt exposure, and space constraints that onshore industrial equipment usually doesn’t — and marine certification is a distinct requirement, not an upgrade tier of a standard industrial part. We source marine-rated electrical and electronic components against vessel type and classification society requirement.
What we can source
Marine-certified cable and connectors, switchgear, lighting, and control equipment for vessels and offshore assets, sourced against the classification and environmental requirement of the installation.
Specification and compliance
Classification society approval and environmental rating are confirmed against your vessel and installation requirement before a component is quoted, and documentation is provided alongside the order.
Type approval, and why an industrial equivalent will not do
A marine installation is inspected. Components in an approved system generally need type approval from the relevant classification society — Lloyd’s Register, DNV, ABS, Bureau Veritas, RINA or ClassNK among them — and approval from one society does not automatically satisfy another.
That is the single most common reason a marine order goes wrong: an electrically identical industrial part is substituted, the price looks better, and the surveyor rejects it. Tell us which society and which vessel notation applies before we quote, and the search starts in the right place.
What we check against
- Classification society approval and the certificate reference, where the installation requires it.
- Environmental and ingress rating for the location: deck, engine room, bridge or hazardous zone on a tanker.
- Vibration and shock tolerance, and the temperature range the equipment will actually see rather than the ambient on a datasheet.
- Cable construction — flame retardant, low smoke zero halogen, and armouring appropriate to the run.
- Documentation supplied with the goods, so it is in the file before the survey rather than after it.
